TaeKwonDo

taekwondo.jpgTaeKwonDo is one of the world’s most commonly practiced martial arts, blending combat techniques, self-defense, sport, exercise, entertainment and philosophy into an obtainable and rewarding study.
TaeKwonDo is probably most famous for its employment of kicking techniques, using the leg as the strongest weapon a martial artist has. The five core principals of TaeKwonDo (COURTESY, INTEGRITY, PERSERVERENCE, SELF CONTROL and INDOMITABLE SPIRIT) reflect that TaeKwonDo is as much a mental discipline as a physical one.

A TaeKwonDo student can expect to develop improved awareness, confidence, focus, discipline, memory, and respect in addition to the physical benefits of a challenging and balanced workout. TaeKwonDo focuses on your development and growth making it a good match for men and women of all ages. Pak’s Academy even has a Tiger Tots program providing TaeKwonDo instruction to children as young as 4 years old.

Pak’s Academy Tiger Tots class is for ages 4 thru 7 years, and is designed to enhance a child’s coordination and physical strength while having fun. It teaches a child self defense by showing them the proper way of punching, kicking and blocking. It builds a child’s self confidence by focusing on developing a child’s concentration, discipline and respect for others. Therefore, as most children progress through the class parents should see a vast improvement in strength, flexibility, and self confidence

As childhood slips away, youngsters enter a stage where they become increasingly independent of their parents. Their physical growth is readily apparent but their intellectual and emotional development
cannot be as easily measured. Lines of communication can become crossed, tangled, strained and, in some cases, completely disconnected. Unlike organized team sports, which often fail to nurture the individual, Martial Arts can provide your son or daughter with the chance to become stronger and more flexible and to improve their overall health and self-image. They’ll come tor ecognize the rewards of hard work and discipline, which often lead to improved academic performance. They’ll make friends who share a healthy interest and they’ll fortify themselves against negative peer pressure. Youngsters who have been taught to respect their bodies and minds are less likely to fall prey to using life-endangering substances or engaging in activities that can destroy their health.

Many parents are looking for activities that allow the entire family to spend time together. Parents and children can train together effectively in Martial Arts because everyone starts as a beginner. Doing Martial Arts together as a family allows you to work hard together in order to improve physical fitness, self confidence, and discipline while having fun at the same time.
